Marinara Sauce - Low Fat Recipe

Ingredients:
1. tsp. Olive Oil
2. cloves garlic minced
3. medium onion, finely chopped
4. 28 ounce chopped tomatoes
5. 2 tbsp balsamic vinegar
6. 1/4 c. tomato paste
7. 2 tbsp basil
8. 2 tbsp oregano
9. 2 tbsp parsley
10. tsp pepper

Recipe Directions for Marinara Sauce - low fat

  1. Heat oil in a large pan or skillet, sautee garlic and onions on low heat until softened, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes, balsamic vinegar and tomato paste. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Add chopped herbs and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.

I choose this recipe because it is a healthy and a fast Marinara Sauce to prepare for pasta dish for my family during the week.  It takes about 30 minutes to make.  The taste is full of flavor and low sodium fats, carbohydrates and is made from fresh ingredients. The food groups are fruits, vegetables, poured over pasta is very healthy.  There are many vitamins in this recipe with iron, potassium, vitamin A  low saturated fat.  You have your fruits, vegetables, grains, add your choice of meat for protein and add white cheese for dairy.
